Standing with our hometowns? The relationship between residents' perceived threat from COVID-19 and intention to support tourism recovery in their hometown

A hometown is the place to which an individual has affective bond resulting from either being born there or living for lived a long time. This article investigates people's intention support revival of tourism in their hometowns post-COVID-19. The research hypothesises that individuals are affected by threat ontological security, freedom movement, and information, this synthetic will affect hometown. Based on compensatory control theory psychological reactance theory, study how need belong, combined with reactance, reveals underlying mechanisms perceived one's survey responses 658 residents China were analysed using structural equation model. results showed positive effect belong mediates relationship. Instead, despite freedom, did not report when faced appeals. These could help destinations revive post-pandemic era; destination management organisations, especially China, should be able appeal promotional without expecting reactance. • Residents information.
